Howdy y’all and happy Tuesday. I will dive right into the material. On Saturday following my brothers football game, I took a detour into Austin, Texas to pick up my friend Sarah, and off to Jester King we went. After navigating the ever so treacherous Mopac highway in Austin, we finally made our way out to 290w and on down the road to Jester King. It is located, almost to Dripping Springs, Texas (Which, if you are keeping track, is where some awesome vodka is distilled here.). We arrived at Jester King which is literally down a gravel road, off of a two lane county road for lack of better term. It is a bit off the beaten path (But then again most good things are). Pulling into the parking lot on a hundred and seven degree day we looked for a spot to park under some shade, rightly so the only other truck parked in the shade (like smart people would do) had Association of Former Student decals on their back windshield. I knew then that I was in the right place. In walking up to the tasting room, there are plenty of picnic tables, and seating under trees with a nice outlook over the Texas Hill Country. Very thoughtful touch to enjoy these brews. We arrived inside and were promptly greeted by the staff. Excellent staff, some of the friendliest that I have encountered at a brewery. We told the gentleman that it was our first time there and he told us the low down. Three full pints, (half pint if you get their Black Metal Stout which I will discuss at length momentarily), a pint glass (good quality, nice and heavy… the kind you want in a bar fight) and the tour for ten bucks. Not too shabby. Now, legally they cannot “sell” beer at the breweries thanks to the TABC. So, we legally only bought the pint glass, and/or tour and they gave us the beer for free. Gotta love free beer right?!
