A little bit of a touchy subject.
How do you feel about corporate beer bars? Bars such as World of Beer, Flying Saucer, Brass Tap, (tell me what you have in your territory).
Do you like them? dislike them?
How do you feel about the following:
Service
Beer knowledge
Selection
Rotation
Ambiance
“Beer Club” each seem to have their own, what do you like/dislike?
Pricing
Location
I am not a big fan of these establishments. Their selection can be nice, provided it rotates and fresh product is always kept in the bar. In my experience often times the packaged selection is overlooked and while they mean well to have a ridiculous amount of options, the lack of product rotation leadfs to beer going out of code.
I find their pricing to be on the high side (yay corporate and higher operation costs)
Beer knowledge, I tend to find both knowledgeable staff, but also some that don’t know their ales from their lagers.
Service is kind of hit or miss. Unfortunately, it often leaves a lot to be desired.
Beer Club, each brand has their own. This tends to help a little bit with the overpriced beer, but only upon completion. For example, World of Beer. After 500 distinct beers (roughly $3500) you get a $250 credit to be used in a single night. A single night. If my friends weren’t there drinking with me along my quest for 500, why would I invite them to party with me on my dime? Less than a 10% discount overall, and not even applicable to my own drinking for the night.
Ambiance. I don’t like corporate culture, I just don’t, Give me a small independent bar where they know my name and preferences. Better yet, they know better than to offer me swill.
What are your thoughts?
