Comments Off on Beware the kettle sour beer

What are your thoughts on this article? http://blogs.denverpost.com/…/beware-the-kettle-sour…/15501/

I think there is some misinformation present, and a lot of that goes to the difference in wild and sour ales. Craft beer has grown at such an explosive rate that many of the nuances were left far behind.

Kettle souring (Berlinerweisse) is wholly different than wild ales (Think Crooked Stave / Jester King / Cantillon). The flavors are different, the styles are different, the quality differential is night and day, etc.

I would much rather have a quality crafted wild ale than a cheap vomit flavored kettle sour (Looking at you Charlie Foxtrot).

Thoughts? Opinions? Can YOU tell the difference when you are drinking the different styles?
