Now, the sale of 10 barrel in and of itself is not new. This trend is going to continue much to.thr dismay of craft “purists”.
Where does this lead us?
There are a couple of diametrically opposed camps.
First, that mega beer will be buying craft brewers left and right and adding to their conglomerate portfolios. This angers the purists who refuse to buy beer that is ultimately owned by AbInBev. They will quit drinking perfectly good beer because of the stigma of who owns it.
Second. People continue to drink good beer regardless of who files the 10K forms at the end of the year. These citizens of craft continue to enjoy quality offerings and do not see the ownership of the brand as a turnoff. These are also the people hoarding all of the Bourbon County.
Where do you stand on the issue? There IS grey area. I personally will drink good beer. Just like I’ll eat beef processed by JBS, chicken from Pilgrims, and buy toothpaste labeled Crest, etc. There are a lot of cost savings associated with national brands. However, it is my perogative to #drinklocal and #buyTexan. Given the choice between national and a quality local alternative, I will choose the local option more times than not.
